: Back To The Bricks..Flint Michigan
Who's going next week? I figured I'd start a seperate post from the Woodward one for Flint. I am going to do the cruise every day. Will be in the Chevelle, the Nova or the Nomad Gasser. Mostly the gasser. Saturday I will have the Nova and the Nomad parked on the bricks downtown. I should be with the A&A Machine shop group.
MikeRM Aug 4th, 09, 10:21 AM I will be on Woodward during the weeknights, Flint on Saturday. Yellow 70 Chevelle with "Team Chevelle" sticker on the quarter window.
rbeckman Aug 4th, 09, 9:56 PM Tony,

Ric....I will look for you. I can PM you my cell # if ya want to give me a call when you get there.
I will be on Woodward during the weeknights, Flint on Saturday. Yellow 70 Chevelle with "Team Chevelle" sticker on the quarter window.
I'll look for the car.
rbeckman Aug 5th, 09, 10:09 PM Tony,
I PMed you my phone number, where are you planning on being during the week? last year I stopped at Serra Auto plaza and got something to eat and then stopped at one of bars down the street that had a band out playing with a friend and then to Rockys that has a bad out there playing as well....never made it downtown till Sat. I'm really looking forward to Wed and Thursday cruizing from Grand Blanc to Flint now that Saginaw street has been repaved.
Mike, I have Blue 69 Chevelle with a black top with the "team Chevelle sticker" in the front drivers windshield.
CustomChevyGuy Aug 6th, 09, 2:14 AM hmmm where and when on the show? i'll be in Toledo seeing some family from the 12th on. imight round some of the cousins up and head out to the show?
Here is the show info.
http://backtothebricks.org/
Ric...I don't have any idea where i will end up. I just get on Saginaw Street and drive. There are so many places to stop, it's hard to say.
Finally Aug 7th, 09, 10:37 PM Hey guys, just got back from vacation. I'll probably go over to Woodward next week, during the week. Plan on going to Back to the Bricks on the weekend but need some help, I'm not at all familiar with Flint. Ric, you plan on going to Baker's this weekend? Maybe you could give me a few tips on where to go and how to get there.
rbeckman Aug 8th, 09, 10:15 PM Hank,
I should be at Bakers on Sunday, there is a car show in Fenton as well but ends at 3. I can explain to you all about the Flint cruise and maybe talk you into coming to the rolling cruise on either Wed or Thur, lots of bars with tents and bands and cold beer sponsoring. Look at the link Tony posted and check out rolling cruise button then the button at the bottom for map. It's from Grand Blanc to Flint on Saginaw st.
For the rolling cruise, just US-23 North to Grand Blanc Rd and then east about 5 miles and it dead ends at Saginaw St and then turn left....you can't miss all the cars cruising.
For the day of the Flint show (back to Bricks) US23 north to I-69 east, take that about 5 miles and get off at the beacj st / Saginaw Street exit and turn left on Saginaw St and there you are...down town Flint and they will have it blocked off and direct you to places to park. I will give you my phone number at Bakers on Sunday.
Finally Aug 9th, 09, 12:43 PM Ric, just got home from fishing, you probably won't see this. I still have your phone number, hopefully see you this afternoon.
ABAD72 Aug 9th, 09, 3:19 PM ILL be out all 4 nights,,, FLINT IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE WOODWARD TRAFFIC JAM...

we need to start a total FLINT cruise section and get people off the woodward parking lot....we will save people the overheating and ROYAL OAK TICKETS,,,
rbeckman Aug 9th, 09, 8:00 PM Abad, where in front of Rockies can they do that, that is Saginaw street? It looks like you were in Grand Blanc across from the cop shop where you did this. What going on at Applegates?
Ric

ABAD72 Aug 9th, 09, 10:18 PM that video was in Birch Run LOL,,, with my old cam and heads !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
,,,, but people wer doin burnouts rite on the street in front of rockies and all the bars north of bristol rd...,,, and major burnouts and even some side by side drags in front of applegate.......... applegate has an old lot just before you go under 475 on saginaw....
hell it might not even be owned by applegate any more...
the BURTON police seemed pretty coool azz long azz you didnt get to crazy,,,,,,
north of Atherton is flint city police and they wer NON exsitent during the cruise outside of brick area( musta been chasin drug dealers )
but dont do anything what so ever south of maple rd ,, that is GRAND BLANC and they ###
welll Dont say anything if ya cant say nothin NICE ,,, MOM SAYS... hell I dont even go to that part of the cruise in GB....
Finally Aug 12th, 09, 4:51 PM We'll I guess I'll follow Ric's directions and head up to Grand Blanc today. Was going to do Woodward one day this week but decided it's not worth it. Too much construction and traffic between Brighton and Woodward.
Hope to see some of you guys.
Finally Aug 12th, 09, 11:50 PM Met up with Ric in Fenton then we headed up to Grand Blanc. Drove up to Flint, stopped at the Halo-Burger for a little while then headed back down. Stopped at Trapper's in Burton, had a few bears and watched the burnouts. Apparently that's burnout central because they were dumping water on the road right in front of the bar. Cop finally came and sat there for awhile. Then he left and things started right back up. Of course Ric had to do a burnout when we left Trapper's, which naturally left me no choice but to do one as well.
Traffic was pretty heavy but not like Woodward. Host sites all along the route, like Halo-Burger and Trappers, that provide free parking for the cruisers. They have signs out front so you know where you can pull into and park. Not sure if I'll go up tomorrow but probably will. Right now I think I need a shower, smell like exhaust and burnt rubber. :hurray:
ABAD72 Aug 13th, 09, 9:25 AM what a bunch of absolute crap the tickets and cars getting flat badded away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally Aug 13th, 09, 9:58 AM what a bunch of absolute crap the tickets and cars getting flat badded away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
???
rbeckman Aug 13th, 09, 10:28 AM I did not see one person pulled over or anyone on flat bed. I agree with Hank, needed to take a shower after all the burnt rubber and Turbo blue....the best smell ever, but the Wife did not think so.
I will not be up there till later as I have to take my daughter to her riding lesson and clean the car up.
TDW Aug 13th, 09, 10:30 AM I got there around 5. I was one of the first to "hammer it a little" in front of Rockys. I ran first and second out a ways. Crowd loved it.
I just got off the phone with one of the Motorcycle cops. He is a good friend of mine. He hooked 1 car last night. It was a black Camaro. The driver did a huge burnout in the curb lane, shot around the car in the inside lane, ended up in the turn lane, headed directley at both cops on thier bikes. He was out of control. I would have hooked him too. The cops will not say much for a small "light em up", but a full on burnout WILL attract thier attention. There were 2 other cars that got hooked for similar stupidity last night and the idiots that had the Street fight around Atherton Rd went to jail too.
ABAD72 Aug 13th, 09, 10:43 AM How many tickets did yer BUDDY on the bike give out...... I seen him pull over a guy in a yellow lemans and he had the ticket book out ,, and the guy bareley cracked the tires.....
The 2 cops on the bikes wer out for REVENUE makin for sure....Id like to know exactley what ticket that guy got !!! IF THEY WANT TO GIVE TICKETS how bout handin a few the the dumb ass people who jump rite out in traffic and try to get ya to stop !!!!
And if he sia good friend of yers .. you dont have to worry,,, cuzz yer ticket will get thrown out if ya get one,, and ya know it...
TDW Aug 13th, 09, 11:48 AM Every ticket I ever got, I deserved it and I paid it without bitching or trying to get it reduced. And I haven't had one in 30 or so years. If someone gets a ticket down there, I would guess they deserve it.
Ya know the City is in one hell of a fincial meltdown, so they may be looking to make a few bucks by writing tickets. Seems like they would have the whole force writing though, not just a couple.
rbeckman Aug 13th, 09, 12:13 PM I agree with Tony, everytime I do something like that and not get a ticket I feel I got away with it, then when I do get a ticket I deserved it. As of date, I'm ahead since I have not had a ticket in 10 years.
I thought the cops were real cool yesterday, just some people were getting out of line as usual and spoil it for everyone else.
As they say, if you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
Finally Aug 15th, 09, 8:30 PM Ric, Tony,
Thanks for the heads-up on Back To The Bricks! Got there about 8:30 this morning and got home around 6:30. What a nice event. Flint, the sponsors and the volunteers should be proud.
Called Ric on the way up, turned out he was 2 miles ahead on 23 so he pulled over and waited for us. We parked together and spent the day walking around, sitting, bull sh**ting. Like I said, very nice day. Reminded me a lot of the Big Block Party in Frankenmuth during Autofest.
Man, I can't believe I missed you guys. I was there from 6:30 AM until 7:PM. I tried to call Ric, but I had his number wrong. I was in the Vendor lot almost all day. Did you guys watch the engine that was on the stand run? The BB with the zoomies on it? That was us. The band guys came over and had me put the Nomad in the center of the parking lot so they could get a bunch of pictures of them and the car. Their name is the "Nomads". Cops had to shut down Saginaw street Friday night due to the idiots.
Finally Aug 16th, 09, 9:03 AM Sorry we missed you Tony. We walked by your cars early in the morning, no Tony. Then we walked back up to the vendor area when my son got there, no Tony. Sounds like you had a good day too.
Grumpy Aug 16th, 09, 11:20 AM Anyone have pics of the event ? May consider this one over Woodward next year and I live within walking distance of Woodward..

My wife took some, but I can't post them. I can email them to someone when she gets them on her computer, then sends them to my computer.

There are some photos at http://popmodphoto.com/ then go to events and planning and password is bricks. My chevelle is in there, its the one with the Yellow GSX in it as well. Some nice pics. I guarantee you would like it there, it's a lot more layed back.
Next year I will get a club parking spot so we can all be together.
I took Saginaw St all the way back to Grand Blanc and the road was covered with burnout marks everywhere. All the bars still had there outside patios set up and people where watching as well as people in lawn chairs along along the route in Flint and Burton.
450HPChevelle Aug 17th, 09, 5:42 PM Wow.
Sounds like there was ALOT of burnin rubber goin on over there in Flint. There was a West wind on Saturday. I thought I smelled some burnt rubber in the air. :D
I think I'm going to put Cruisin the Bricks on my list of things to do next year.

You won't believe this Chris.

I'm soooooo confused.
Finally Aug 17th, 09, 8:41 PM Brian,
Like I said, the Frankenmuth Big Block Party only bigger. They direct the cars there for the show to parking. Streets are blocked off and you walk and check out all the nice cars. Really nice show, we had a great day.
See you in few weeks, looking forward to Autofest. Our little corner is expanding. With Dave Birdwell and if Tony joins us again, hope he does, we're up to 5 members.

It would be nice of we had a Team Chevelle banner or poster to use for pictures. :D
Cross your fingers and hope no one decides to park in our spot.;)
Looking forward to the show!!:hurray:
ABAD72 Aug 18th, 09, 9:42 PM weres the corner??
rbeckman Aug 18th, 09, 9:45 PM I'm looking at having a banner made up, and suggestions on what it should say besides the team Chevelle logo. Maybe "Mid Michigan chapter" It looks like I can get it made for under $60.
