: For the irony
That 70 guy Aug 3rd, 09, 9:23 PM Okay i'm sure any Muscle car guy has done this or wanted to, but. Have you ever met a riced car, raced them? Or have you every found a group of them and rev the motor to redline? I really would love to do this when i get my 70 Malibu up and running. There are plenty in Maryland and a high school nearby only makes it better.
So maybe some should tell their stories on what they do with ricers you guys meet.
grandsport Aug 3rd, 09, 9:28 PM The last time I tried that it was with an Eclipse.Idid not realize he had nitrous until he hit the button at 60mph.
Highway Star Aug 3rd, 09, 9:33 PM Yeowch Gary!!!
I've had a few run-ins with ricers. I guess I haven't been unlucky enough to get Gary'd though.
They seem to have this desire to try and pass me from waaay back when a 2-lane merges into 1. Ain't gon' happen. :noway:
pnugene Aug 3rd, 09, 9:33 PM If you have a big-block with the proper sound, just blip the throttle a little at the light to let them hear whatcha got, then let them scream off into the distance. Hopefully a cop will be at the end of their speedrun, and you can idle past and grin at them while they wait to receive their ticket. Street racing ain't cool.:noway:
Scotch Aug 3rd, 09, 9:35 PM I hunt them like hounds to a rabbit. Extra points if they have their girlfriends or pals with them. The goofier and bigger the wings are, the more motivated I get.
I have a nitrous kit to install now too. I've never needed it against an import yet, but there's nothing like a little insurance...
Waxing an import with a musclecar is one thing. Doing it with a 4-door wagon is a whole 'nother deal...almost priceless...!
That 70 guy Aug 3rd, 09, 9:38 PM Wow Scott i'm sure any ricer getting smoked by a chevelle wagon will probably crap themselves. If they even knew that a wagon version existed.
novaderrik Aug 3rd, 09, 10:44 PM i faked out a few ricers with my Nova- 3 in one night, actually..
i made the mistake of going to where a bunch of them happen to hang out on a friday night, and they would pull up next to me at every stop light. so i'd play with them. rev a little- inch forward- look over at them- look at the light- look at them. then, when it turned green, i'd watch them go screaming into the waiting hands of the cop that was parked 1/2 block ahead..
i think it got to the point where the cops were watching where my blue and white beater looking Nova would go just to see who they could pick off next. and the idiots in the ricers just kept wanting to race me for some reason..
the moral of this story is to not street race- it's just not cool. and, besides, beating a fwd Honda with a wing just isn't usually very impressive.
novaderrik Aug 3rd, 09, 10:45 PM now that i just reread my post, it came to me that this thread is getting close to promoting street racing.
where does the new management stand on this? or has it always been more controlled at the moderator level?
Dean Aug 3rd, 09, 10:52 PM Can't answer for the new owners but I haven't received notice of ANY changes in the policy.
mr 4 speed Aug 3rd, 09, 10:56 PM Ricers? What are they? ;)
I always get a thumbsup or some kind of harmless enthusiasm....guess that happens when you are driving either a 70 SS,Stage 1 GS convertible or a Grand National :D ;)
Elcoman Aug 3rd, 09, 10:57 PM I was on the freeway one night in my Elco, three ricers are racing down the freeway.
They slowed down to get next to me to try and race me. I was cruising probably 10 mph under the speed limit in the slow lane. They started shifting like maniacs, so I hit the throttle a little to keep up with them.:D Then when they stopped shifting, I barely hit the throttle and passed them. Then I slowed back down. They drove off still racing each other.:D

like that scene from Cars :D
Highway Star Aug 3rd, 09, 11:11 PM like that scene from Cars :D
That was funny, like when they were messing with the sleeping bigrig?
TCSS1970 Aug 3rd, 09, 11:13 PM I don't waste gas on kazoo's!:noway: A kid at work told me how his honda would beat my Chevelle with a group of guys around I just looked at him and laughed and said I couldn't take a car seriously that sounded like a kazoo! All the guys started laughing and started making kazoo sounds and he never brought it up again.:D
Cameano Aug 4th, 09, 1:13 AM I was cruising down the road one Friday night in the Firebird, mindin' my own business, going the speed limit, when this late model Mustang with what sounded like a V6 with Flowmasters pulled up next to me. This guy starts gunning his motor, downshifting, making all kinds of noise next to me. I looked at him, pointed at his car, and laughed. His buddy busted up laughing at him, so he slowed down and dropped way back. Man, that was fun. :D
chevele72 Aug 4th, 09, 12:35 PM Kazoo!! That's a good one! Never heard that before. When we're out in the '72, Big block with 3 1/2" exhaust with Borla XR-1's, I ignore them and they don't try.
Jody
MEJ1990TM Aug 4th, 09, 1:01 PM I just ignore the bastards.
A friend of mine wants to race me in his '94 BMW. I told him a rolling start, first to 100 wins. I've driven his car. The Chevelle would blow his doors off. :D
But I won't do it.

Same here, I never had any problems with suped up imports, everyone gives me a thumbs up, but i drive my chevelle real slow around town, i usually get tailgated for driving slow, even though i can probably woop most cars' butts in a race. An occasional high school prick may try to race me but i ignore it.

X2. I drive a supercharged 383 4 dr Chevelle. I get tons of compliments especially if the engine is running. Ricers? Ya, I look and smile.
Mstehle Aug 4th, 09, 5:11 PM I will occasionally get some ricer youngster who throttles it up around the Chevelle but with a 540 pumping out good numbers and a lumpy 108 lsa cam connected to 3" exhaust with Race Pro mufflers I am pretty sure they know what the outcome would be so they don't try to race me. I suppose there may be a faster street driven car around but mine will hang pretty good with most all of them. Heck I haven't even had it up over 5000 yet and it will still scare me some. I think would just laugh and shake my head anyway if someone was serious about trying to street race me. They would get the message.
BTW "kazoo" That's a good one. l:)
pdq67 Aug 4th, 09, 6:38 PM I DON'T condone it or have I ever done it, but taking on crotch rockets w/ a car and beating them on the street in the 1/4 has to be a real hoot!
And through the years in the mag's I have read that there are several cars out there more than capable of doing it that are believe it or not, their owners are hardcore DD them!!
