Im in the process of putting in a new front seal on my turbo 400 and the torque converter is very rusty on the outside but it works great. I think I have a stall of 2200, at least when I do the break and watch the tach when the tires grab. How long will a torque converter last if im not racing the car? The engine is a 396 so I do get on it at times. The torque has a drain plug so I can change the fluid easy. Let me know. Thanks.

Conveters are usually always rusty on the outside if there not painted. If your not having any trouble why change it.

Thanks for the info! I thought the same thing, but I dont know the age of the torque. I bought the chevelle about 6 years ago and did not get alot of history. I dont drive it every day, but I want it to last as long as I do.......
