I've got a 1969 malibu convertible, and I think the previous owner stuck a bunch of "SS" trim on it, in addition to putting in the drive train. He said he bought it with no motor or trans. I dont think its an SS, and some one told me that a '69 should have green tinted glass. I know some other things to look for, but I've never heard this before, has any one else?

Tinted glass was standard on Air Conditioning equipped cars and available as an option on Non Air Conditioned cars. Non A/C cars would have had clear class unless RPO A01 was checked off.

Standard glass is clear. If a Chevelle (SS or not) has optional tinted glass, it is green. Chevelles were available with either clear glass, tinted/ shaded windshield only with other glass clear, or all glass tinted with shaded/tinted windshield. If the glass is tinted, it is green. While most air-conditioned cars also had tinted glass, I don't think it was required, or included in the C60 option.

Is this correct for all years?

i know it is correct for 70 and 71. my car has what they call astro ventilation ,no a/c but has factory date coded tinted glass all around and side vents out the dash frt.
