Don_Lightfoot Aug 1st, 09, 9:07 PM The first numerical "1" actually refers to Chevrolet, not GM. The data plate is on the top of the firewall on the flat section below the windshield on the driver's side.
Being that yours is an Oshawa Built car, you can contact GM Canada Vintage Services and get a complete breakdown of how your car came equipped new. They charge a small fee for this, but it is well worth it and the confirmation is like GOLD. The numbers I have for contact are 888-467-6853 and 905-440-7689. These numbers are several years old so I don't know if they have changed.
Burnsamatic Aug 1st, 09, 9:08 PM '69's and '70's are soo easy to clone.you need a build sheet or numbers matching engine(the problem is both can be reproduced), unfortunately.
rdep1130 Aug 1st, 09, 9:15 PM Thanks for the replies I am going to call canada mon morning hope it is a real ss though....

Make it Tuesday, as Monday is a holiday here in Ontario.
R..[name?] What part of Mich are you in? I am near Flint.
DaleM Aug 2nd, 09, 10:12 AM Might also check http://www.chevellestuff.com/1969/69ss.htm, http://www.chevellestuff.com/1969/trim_tag.htm and http://www.chevellestuff.com/1969/vin.htm.
The number 334602 is the sequence number but sequencing began with 300001 making this car the 34,602nd 1969 Chevelle from the Oshawa plant. :)

One other note, in 1969 Oshawa normally put the engine and transmission on their data plates. For example, if it is in fact an SS, then there should be an L35 or L34 on the data plate and also either M40, M20 or M21. There were no L78's built in Oshawa, don't know about M22's.

Do you get to any of the local cruises? Are you going to Back to the Bricks? I could take a look at the car for you and see if the SS specific stuff is there.
rdep1130 Aug 7th, 09, 4:10 PM I will not be able to make it to woodward or the flint cruise since I have to work thanks for the offer also i did order the papers from canada finally yesterday are there any more local swaps or cruises coming up?? if you do go to flint have fun but be safeeee...
Rich...There is a cruise in Davison on Friday nights. Lots of cars there, they close Main Street down for the cars. Also, Flushing A&W has a nice cruise on the 3rd Saturday of the month.

rdep1130 Aug 12th, 09, 3:44 PM Well I got my papers back from canada today and to my surprise they had the build sheet and in deed it is a true chevelle ss 396 turbo jet 350 horse power............Awesome
rdep1130 Aug 12th, 09, 3:45 PM I wonder if that makes it worth more and if so what kind of price range?
Greg Aug 13th, 09, 4:40 PM Does it still have its numbers matching 396?
