Rear end feels loose when I come to a stop..I checked the axle busing and bolts and all appear to be in good shape...I can even wiggle the whole rear of the car side to side with ease...This is driving me nuts...

Do you have tall rear springs? Air Shocks?
Did you look at the upper rear control arms and bushings? Are the bushings original?

More info.

Broken belt or radial cords in one of the rear tires? Being able to rock the car side to side is normal in a car that has rear coil springs.

MY 71 Chevelle is riding on tall coil springs and does have a older set of air shocks... The upper and lower control arm busings appear original and are in very good shape no craking or chipping...I was told that cars with coil springs have that kind of movement...I did notice that the tires had most of the movement ... maybe a set of new tires and and new shocks might do the trick...Maybe a sway bar will help?

If you have a bad brake drum, tire, rim, or anything else that's off just a little bit, it could make the rear end wiggle. In my experience, it doesn't take much at all, and a suspension that's loose sideways will make it much more pronounced. I'd probably look at the rear wheels first, but it could actually be in the front too. My brothers old Mercedes had the same problem, and we finally found that one front brake rotor was slightly warped. Wasn't enough to cause vibrations when driving, but just as it came to a stop it would wiggle a bit.

Try rotating the tires (front to back), that could tell you if the wheels are causing the problem.

Well I checked everything that was mentioned here and it appeared to be a tire with a small imperfection... I couldnt believe all the movement it caused... Once I replaced the rear tires and added the new shocks and the correct tire pressure she was solid as a rock... :D Thanks for the advice fellows...I also installed a one inch sway bar from Danchucks for 90.00 dollars...Handles really nice now..Thanks again all...
