: The opposite of $40 for air in your tires...
Alan F Jul 31st, 09, 8:25 AM Everyone hates a downer such as paying for air in your tires... However, I had a very positive experience I wanted to share and realize your experience may vary.
I had two rollers (junk wheel & tire) for my project that kept losing air. I took them down to Discount Tire to have them repaired. The service manager looked at the date codes and said that he couldn't repair them because they were older than 8 years. I thought, oh boy here we go. I told him they were rollers and wouldn't be driven on and asked that he please just repair the tires. He quickly told me that he had two tires that he could put on there. I thought, it isn't worth it. I sheepishly asked how much? He said free. I thought OK, well I'm going to get charged for mounting or valve stems or something. They didn't charge me a penny. These tires are still legal, about 1/3 tread left I would guess and best of all they don't lose air.
I should add that I have a history with Discount Tire but he didn't look up anything on the computer before they started.
Thanks Discount Tires!

My wife is not about to run her car at 160mph..And they give her a fat discount since the owners wife and my wife are friends who is a car whole seller that we buy our vehicles from..

Alan thats how a company earns your buisness back. Doing the little things to please customers. Putting the service back in customer service.:hurray:
Emptytank Jul 31st, 09, 11:48 AM I'll add my good experience here. I had a slow leak in one of my Corvette tires, so I removed it and dropped it off at a Big-O that was close to my shop, went back that afternoon to pick it up, the guy told me that it was the shcrader (sp?) valve (valve stem guts) and it was replaced -No Charge. I had never done any kind of business with them before.
6 Months later my DD needs new tires, I went directly to that store and gave them my business, and probably will continue, and since we have 6 vehicles that will always need something they will no doubt get more business out of one act of kindness than they ever expected.
Good service gets rewarded in the end
69malibu3speed Jul 31st, 09, 12:43 PM Maybe they are getting a jump on the hyper inflation we are soon going to see?
dpvoiceguy Jul 31st, 09, 1:22 PM I just turned 39 last Saturday and since I was 16 and got my first car (69 Camaro), only one person has ever done my tire work. My buddy Sean at Dean Tire is the most straight-up guy I've ever met in the car business. Has hooked me up with tires for rollers, changed ATV tires that nobody else would touch, etc., etc.
The result? I have sent well over a dozen people to him and he is now the only person they'll use for tires. You can't put a price on that kind of advertising.
On a related note...I am a little worried for Sean and his business as I recently learned that Cooper Tires (his main line and my favorite brand) is in financial trouble. I hope things turn around soon...
