Well the title pretty much says it all. The cable seems to be too long, does it just need an ajustment? I looked in few catalogs and it looks like the cable comes in 3 parts so I'm wondering if I need all three parts? Also do I need to replace the hook that's in the cross member? Thanks.

you need different cables. I think the only ones you can reuse are the 2 rear ones to each rear brake. I have the same problem. If you have one of the venders cat. it usually shows them in a diagram. also need different hooks

OK, looks like I'll need to order the other two. Thanks.

actually they show (muscle factory) the S hooks being the same. 1 large and 2 small. You need the front cable and intermediate cable for the 400.

IIRC, the only cable you need is the intermediate one, the front one should be reusable.

The intermediate cable is shorter for the TH400 due to the crossmember being moved toward the back of the car.

The catalog shows front e-brake cable with a 400 tranny different than 350. (muscle factory)

OK, I guess I can try replacing the intermediate one first and see if it works before purchasing anything else. I would assume then I can reuse the existing hook on the crossmember?

WARNING !!!!!!
Make sure that when you buy the cable that goes through the foot board that you "DONT" get Rabestos brand.
It wont fit, due to the measurements of the crimp sleve, it's in the wrong place.
I just went through this, they have been making them wrong for a long time.
So unless it's "NEW" stock, within the last 2 months, it will be wrong.
I am speaking of the th400 tranny cable only, the others may be OK?
I got two from Modern that were no good, so I would think the rest of the distributors would be the same.
Buy another brand if ya can.
Hope this helps T.C.

Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to just drill a new hole in the crossmember to locate the hook farther outboard and use up some of that slack?

It's not original, but it's free. I've done it, and it worked for me.

unless your looking for "correct", i made up my intermediate cable from 1/8" cable and ends from Lowe's. you will need the special crimping tool they sell. i bought it, used it, and returned it.
works perfect.

Good points on getting it done cheaper, but I'm more of a bolt on type guy if you know what I mean, I don't want to make a huge mess out of something simple. Ground UP has the intermediate for $22.00 and I need some other small stuff as well so I'll be paying for shipping anyway. Thanks for the ideas!
