Hey all,
My friend has a 327 in his garage. We were told it is from a 66 Corvette.

Engine block stamp: F0930HF
Block #: 858174

Intake manifold: 3875954 GM2

right exhaust manifold 3747038

Any help deciphering would be appreciated.

3858174 = 327 64-67 275-350 car & Truck 2-bolt

HF codes that fit the 64-67 field:
HF 65 327 Corvette 300 L-75 Manual 4-Brl AFB Carter
HF 66 327 Impala 275 L-30 Power glide 4-Brl Hyd Cam, A.I.R.
HF 67 327 Impala 275 L-30 Power glide 4-Brl Hyd Cam, A.I.R.

3875954 = 327 1966 4-Brl Carter AFB
If this is the manifold from this engine it's this engine
HF 66 327 Impala 275 L-30 Power glide 4-Brl Hyd Cam, A.I.R.

3747038 58-65 283 & 327 RH Corvette and Passenger 220, 250 & 300 HP 1.9" Outlet

Quite a selection of parts.
Get the casting date from the block and heads to see what this really is

Excellent. I believe this came out of a Corvette then because is has a Muncie 4 spd behind the motor.

What do you think the motor is worth with the tranny. the motor has never been rebuilt. It is complete from pulley's to carb to brackets? About 60,000 on the motor.

Without the engine date code it's just a 64-67 327.
If it got a 65 date then it's a Vette engine block.

Got it. I will have him search for the engine date code.

When you get the info and still want to know a value ,post in the 'What's it worth (http://www.chevelles.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=60)' forum for some good answers

It didn't come out of a Vette if it doesn't have a partial VIN stamped on the block. Corvette engines have been stamped starting in the 1960 model year. The intake is a quadrajet manifold for a 275HP 327. Lowest Corvette horsepower in 66 was 300HP. My opinion is that it originally came out of a full size Chevy.

There are no documented 3858174 blocks in 65 Corvettes. They were delivered in 66 Corvettes.

Blocks delivered in 1965 Corvettes were 3782870 (most common) and 3858180 (limited quantity)

Four speeds were available in Chevelle and full sized Chevrolet with 327s in 1965 so it proves nothing.

As requested above, get the casting date off the block.
The 4 speed should have some numbers stamped on it.
Post those numbers for better identification.

Quote Verle.

My engine it's a 327 Corvette,the casting numbers are 3858174 but the suffix for the 1966 Corvettes engine is HH (300hp) and the intake is a Holley manifold (alluminum not cast iron like Rochester manifold).

I believe this came out of a Corvette then because is has a Muncie 4 spd behind the motor.

Muncie will swap behind any 327 in place of a Powerglide... So just because ihas a Muncie now doesn't mean it came that way 43+ years ago...

Just remember every 327 at a swap meet is a "Corvette Motor" :D
