I have a 69 SS Chevelle with Astro Ventilation(non AC) and I want to put the factory AC in the car. Does anyone know if AC cars came also with Astro Ventilation? Are they 2 different systems or do they use the same duct work? Please send me a diagram if someone has one for each system. Thanks and Best Regards,

Vince, I have a 69 Chevelle with Astro Ventilation and 69 El Camino with factory A/C. The El Camino does not have Astro Ventilation. The kick panels are different in the El Camino, they have a plastic slide lever in the kick panel instead of the two chrome knobs.
Without looking at the assembly manual I would say the ducts are different, but similiar to the point you could reuse most of them.
As an example I added aftermarket A/C to the Chevelle and reused the ductwork with slight modifications. I replumbed the duct to feed out of each vent ball as well as center vent and of course still feeding the defroster. I did keep the lower Astro vent on the drivers side operational and I am glad I did as I use it quite often when not running the A/C. In your case going back to a factory A/C setup the inside boxes are different so the ducting will change slightly. At that point I would think you will be following the factory A/C ductwork routing. Hope this helps.

My 4 door Malibu has Astro with A/C too. It works fine and has been converted to R134.
