how much of a sin is it if you put 1970 ss stripes on a 67?

D88 sport stripes aren't SS stripes as they were available as an option on any Malibu coupe/convertible/pickup. Not my cup of tea on anything other than 70-72 model years but your car/your choice. Here's an example of a yellow 67 with black stripes from eBay 4 years ago.

I dont think its anyones cup of tea except for those that do it.

IMHO its just plain wrong, a kin to the guys that run their stripes over the roof or run a side stripe and the hood and decklid. IMO it gives off an overdone, reaching too far look. The 64/5/6/7's are fine autos just as they are, they look great as they are, they look great with optional paint schemes, two tone, etc. But stripes on that car is like sewing a Michael Jordan logo on any pair of nikes. Both nikes, Jordans are nikes but its wrong and everyone knows it because they are either Air Jordans or they arent, regardless of the fact that all are nike.

Have been thru lot of different versions of stripes over the years with my 67. If you do go with stripes don't do the 70 version, it looks funny not going to the edge of the lip on the hood & trunk deck. Best look is 12 inch stripe all the way to the edge. Jb

The factory style stripes that go down the side of the car look great on a '67, anything else looks kind of out of place.

You know what, the worst part of doing anything like that is that you get so sick of hearing "it ain't right"
People always say that to their "partner" but they make darn sure to say it loud enough for you to overhear. :(

Very good point Dean. But he did ask for the forum's opinions.
On that note, not my cup of tea but it is your car to do with as you see fit. Too many people concern themselves with what the next guy who might own it would want.
