Just got done taking apart my '69 gauge cluster and the gaskets behind the indicator lights are falling apart. What have you guys used to replace those?
Also, what kind of paint is a close match to the aqua that is on the gauges? And where can it be purchased.

Hmm. Must not be a ton of people restoring their gauges.

If you are looking for something that works (but it is not technically correct)...go to Lowes or Home Depot and look in the section where they keep all their weatherstrips. They have a roll of foam seal that is about 1 1/4 wide and 1/8" thick, it's adhesive backed, and gray in color. You can cut it to any shape. I use it on the 70-72 clusters to make the round gaskets for the turn signals, high beam, and brake light. If you have a set of gasket punches, you can make perfect circles...or use an X-acto knife for straight cuts. Once the cluster is back together, nobody can see that it is the wrong color and type of foam, but it keeps the light from bleeding through the openings.

I solved the paint issue. Found an almost exact match at Walmart (Krylon). I will swing by Lowes and see what I can find as far as gasket material. Thanks for the tip John.
