The flat tappet cam has a warn lobe, i guess i shouldn't complain after 6 years and the oil problems i have heard about recently, Anyway my combo is

454 + 60 =468 with sped pro 2399 pistons and decked 290 100.9cc GM iron heads
( how much decking?) the block has never ben decked. heads have w/2.19-1.88 valves.
Stock dimpled rods with good bolts. i have in it now a Lunati 00026 cam and lifter set with springs to match the cam

I would like to use a Hyd. roller retro fit setup simular to what i have now, From what i understand this engine setup has piston to valve clearance issues and i dont want to have problems after i spend the money for the roller cam and lifters. will i need new springs on a roller?

Any suggestions?

Hot,
You will definitely have to change springs. Any of the cam manufacturers should be able to grind you a suitable camshaft. I would also suggest that you go to the Gen6 style "step nose" cam that uses the retainer plate on the front. That way you dont have to mess with a cam button. You will have to change to a Gen6 timing chain and gears. If you want I can get you a price on an Erson cam with Morel lifters. Let me know.

This one is close and would treat you good:

It's got quite a bit more lift, but as was already stated, you have to change the valve springs anyways.

Thats the one i liked as well but from what i was told piston to valve 575 exhaust was verry close, does anyone run this cam with 2399 pistons and 290 heads or any closed chamber 100.9cc head? also i have m20 muncie and 373s soon to be 355s

Isky makes a hyd. roller that's 275/284 adv., 228/238 .050, .553/.578 lift on a 112 LSA. That one might be close to what you need. The .578 ex. lift is pushing it from what you said, but it might work.

I think Mark (Vortecpro) sells this one as a kit/package. If it wasn't him, someone on TC sells it.
