Hey guy's I'm looking at a new Silverado truck. Question, what if anything do I loose with a 4.8 over the 5.3 engine. I assume HP but is there any other pro or cons I should consider ?

I would check the chevy website, it should tell you all the specs.

Everybody I know that bought a truck with the 4.8L wished they would have bought the 5.3L.

I have a 5.3. I believe the 5.3 is around a -- 327 Cu. In. I do not believe I would be happy with less than a 327. My engine in the silverado is around 300 H.P.

I would guess the towing capacity difference between the two would likely be about 1500 pounds ??????

Same block, same bore, 4.8 is shorter stroke. My 5.3 is plenty strong, my brother's 4.8 downshifts more when on the highway with a load. Gas mileage is about the same.

I see now the 5.3 is available in the smaller Canyon and Colorado too. 300 HP in that small truck sounds good to me!
