: Where would I look to find my build sheet?
raddmod Jul 24th, 09, 9:11 PM Does anyone know specifically where I should look for the build sheet for my car? It's a 1968 Chevelle, Baltimore built in the 3rd week of June. I was hoping to get some ideas before I begin taking things apart to find it.
grandsport Jul 24th, 09, 9:24 PM I think the majority of them are found under the rear seat.
1badss396 Jul 24th, 09, 9:38 PM My Baltimore built 69 I also had one under the drivers bucket seat glued to the metal under the foam cushion.
DaleM Jul 24th, 09, 11:54 PM I don't think what are commonly called 'build sheets' came into play until 1969 - EXCEPT for Fremont. What you're more likely to find are either a Body Broadcast Copy or Chassis Broadcast Copy sheet like this Body Broadcast Copy sheet from a 68 Baltimore SS396.
Sadly neither of these sheets show many options outside of the engine suffix code (on Chassis Broadcast Copy).
raddmod Jul 25th, 09, 10:43 AM So if it is the case that build sheets did not exist until 1969, how would I find out if my car is correctly optioned?
DaleM Jul 25th, 09, 11:54 PM Probably have to rely on some other form of paperwork. Here's a link (http://www.chevellestuff.com/1969/chevelle/bs/bal/bal.htm) to a 1969 Baltimore CHASSIS BROADCAST COPY & BODY BROADCAST COPY from the same car and very little besides the engine/transmission can be determined.
I don't know of anyone yet that has enough examples of this paperwork to accurately decode much more of the information as far as options go. :(

ls5-70ss Jul 26th, 09, 3:59 PM Build sheets/broad cast sheets, can be found almost anywhere in the interior. I have seen them, under the rear seat in the springs; top of the rear seat in the springs. Front seats behind the plastic backs of the buckets seats, seat bottom in the springs. Behind any one of the door panels, under the carpet, on the bottom side of the console. Behind the dash, above the headliner, and have even seen them on the top side of the gas tank. With this said, some cars may have never had a build sheet included. A friend of mine, did a frame off on a pretty rough car that had never had anything done to it. Never found the build sheet for his car. But under the rear seat were 16 build sheets from the 16 cars built ahead of his. Happy hunting. Thomas

Did your friend ever try to get the copies of those 16 build sheets to the current owners of the cars or post a vehicle list?

I will have to get with Dennis and see what he did with those build sheets. He may still have them. Thomas
