Should be one at the back of the engine, near the distributor, just behind the intake manifold.

My 454 has a hole just above the oil filter, isn't the back of the engine a smallblock location?

There's a whole row of them on the left side, just above the oil pan rail. I always used the front one on my drag car motors.

Never seen one there on a Big Chevy, but that don't mean that some don't have them...I've only seen one there on small blocks.

Their is a big hole, like 5/8 this is for clutch Z-bar ball fitting just above the oil filter housing. There should be a another hole forward of the oil filter housing. This has a plug that you can tap into the oil pressure.

The stock location for an oil pressure sensor on a 396 or Gen IV 454 is just above the oil filter as mentioned above. That's also the reason the lower arm of the clutch Z-bar for a BBC is shaped differently than on the SBC unit. It's angled to clear the oil pressure sensor or line fittings at that location.

Put a little high heat concentrated right on that plug and it will come right out.
