I have a Sun electric temperature guage. I bought a TS6 sensor for it. After hooking it up and turning on the ignition the gauge jumps to 220. Why
Here is a picture of the gauge. On the back it says which terminal to hook the wire up to. One is going to the ignition and the other goes to the sending unit.
Do I need this sending unit? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-2385/?image=large

I have had bad sensors that act like yours is doing. You can look up Sun Equiptment Co. on the internet and call them to see if it is the correct sensor and ask them for advice.

Just a quick update on my gauge dilemma. I bought a variable potentiometer. I don't remember the exact range but I think it would go from 0-5000 ohms. I got the gauge to go from 220 down to 100 degrees when the motor is about 60 degrees.
I was told that I would need to go down about 2200 Ohms so I thought the one I bought would work. Apparently not!
I am using a TS6 sending unit. is there a different sending unit that puts out a lower amount of ohms?

1. What is a "TS6" sending unit? What ohm range is it intended to provide?
2. What happened to the original Sun sending unit?
3. What ohm range is the gauge calibrated for?

I was told that the TS6 sending unit was for a factory 1970 Chevelle w/gauges.
I bought the gauges used which means I did not get a sending unit. I contacted Sun and they had no info on the gauge.
I am not sure how to find out what the range is on the sending unit or the gauge.
This is all new to me, I am use to the mechanical gauges. If I ever find one with the green lines...I will grab it.
