What Mike said. The way you worded your post didn't make a lot of sense but I think you are asking is the processor part of the mother board and the answer is no it plugs in on it and is seperate. The mother board will be a pentium 4 board with a pentium 4 socket. The 5150 is a series number kinda like a Chevelle is a Chevrolet. Processors come in different sizes like engines in a Chevelle and some have more power than others and can be good or bad independant of the condition of the board not to say that both can't be bad at the same time. Hey Jac can you send me a pic of your Nassu Blue 70 I would like to see that color on a 70? Thanks TC

If that's your question ,then YES ,the cpu is separate from the board.
Here's a pic of that board and the square at the top with the square hole in it is where the CPU mounts.

They could have put in any board with the same form factor -usually ATX.
Does it show on the bill what board was installed ?
If you got a cheap price ,they could have used a cheap board.

If they replaced the motherboard with the same type that came out then I'd keep the P4 and tell them to shove the useless celery where the sun don't shine. For a few more bones you could have damn near bought a new up to date computer.

Very true, but most Dell boards are not ATX form factor (most are custom to fit the chassis) and most ATX boards will not fit in a Dell chassis and still fit the rear filler panels.

Man I need picks to really help this guy out.
