When converting to tall spindles on a 69 do you have to replace the a arms? This is where it gets to be an expensive proposition. Also why can't you use the stock lower ball joint from the A body on this spindle? Thanks, Scott! graemlins/beers.gif
Some do, some don't. Have to take frame sag into account on your car.
I helped two local members in their tall spindle swap. One has a 69 the other a 65.
They both used offset upper control arm shafts installed backwards (takes up some space of the shims).

A stock lower ball joint from the car the spindles are from is machined to fit inside the lower arm. Otherwise a stock 70 Chevelle joint is too short because of the thicker spindle and the taper is different too.

I know one advantage to having the Hotchkiss or GW upper A-arms is to getting more caster for greater stability. Can you still get the same caster alignment with the offset shafts as you can with the hotchikiss/GW a-arms?

Kevin C No, unfortunately, the camber goes out to far in order to get the same caster. I'm using the adjustable arms and they're working great.

Daryl,
Adjustable arms? What are those and would you have a website link?
Thank you,
