This only my third post but I am learning a lot from you guys. I realized the other day while driving my '64, that I had been driving with the emergency brake on. When I released it, the brakes were almost gone. I continued to drive it hoping they would return, but nothing. I checked the fluid level and it's o.k. What should I check next? Thanks for the help.

Pull the drums and inspect the rear shoes.Driving with the E-brake on will prematurly wear out the shoes. At best you'll just need to re-adjust the rear shoes,at worst you'll need to replace the shoes and the drums.Don't forget to bleed out the fluid that may have boiled due to the excess heat created by this.

What happened when you pumped the brakes, were they still gone or would they come back when you pumped them?
