Jacked up my car last night for the first time. The drivers tire tilted in at the top about 3 inches. What parts do I need to start replacing?

Please Help!!!
Thanks

I don't think you need to replace anything. That should be normal. The upper A-arm is shorter than the lower so when the suspension goes to full droop, the smaller arc that the upper travels in will put the top of the tire inward.
I'm not saying you don't HAVE to replace anything, a car of that age probably needs something but if you don't feel any play in the wheels then everything should be normal.

Hey Jeff thanks a lot on that info. But the weird thing about the top of the tire tilting in is the fact that at low speed's it is completly fine but today when I took it on the interstate the tire I'm guessing started to throw off the whole back end and was pulling the car to the right. Oh just in case you want to know the tire is aming to the right and is on the left side if that will cliarify anything for you.

Well, now that sounds like a different story. I would not drive it until you figure it out. Is the upper A-arm tight? Open the hood so you can see the area where the alignment shim should be. Are they there? Whether they are or not, bounce the fenders and look to see if the cross shaft moves away from the frame. Pull on all the steering components and make sure there is no play. Yank on the top of the tire, in and out. Then grab it at 9 and 3 o'clock and try to move it that way. Any looseness? Jack the car up with the jack under the lower shock mount. The tire needs to be only an inch off the ground or so. Then pry up on the wheel with a tire iron(or whatever) at 6 o'clock. Does it move up and down? You could also have bad A-arm bushings. Look at those too. If you need new ones, look at them all because there are round ones and oval ones and the factory sometimes mixed and matched depending on what was on hand.

Good luck and feel free to ask for any clarification

Hey Jeff thanks a lot for all of that info I think I'm going to jake my car back up and take off the front left wheel and I will then take a very detailed look at the suspension and I will then probally be able to know what is happining and then I can find out how to fix this problem. So then my El Camino will then run smooth...

Thanks Jeff
