Hello, I just received my Baer front disk brakes with tall spindle for my 67 Convertible. Also waiting for one of my 18" Budnik wheels that was slightly dinged during shipping. My car is all original and I dont think any upgrades/maintenance have been done in a very long time. I am swaying towards Global West from suggestions on this site. I know at the minimum I will need upper control arms. I have the bump steer kit and ball joints. What else should I do ?? Lower controls? Coil overs? Standard shocks? Sway bars? Front bushings?
I will more than likely pay some one to do the work. I would really like to do all the work in one shot, rather than piecing it together to keep costs down!! I want a nice looking, lowered handling, family car !!

Any and all opinions are appreciated !!!!

Thanks

Kevin

Well,

I would definitely replace ALL the steering linkage (tie-rods, centerlink, idler arm) and the lower control arm bushings in the front (assuming you stay with the stock lower arms).

I would also suggest new coil springs and shocks...

Coil over shocks are neat, and will allow ride height adjustments...

If you want a nice handling and nice riding car, I'd stay away front the boxed upper rear control arms and away from poly bushings for the upper arms (poly in lowers is okay but not the best). An adjustible upper arm with spherical joints or stock arms/new rubber bushings...

Global West has some nice lower rear arms too... Maybe you could swing a better deal if you buy front and rear arms at the same time...

Might also want to consider a new quick ratio steering box if your is power...

Tony,
Thanks for the reply.
I am still figuring this out!!

Anyone know the best price to buy Global West.

At this point Global tubular uppers and lowers with coil overs. Have to figure out best springs for a small block. I am after the lowered look with 18" all around.
Thanks again!!

It sounds like you are wanting to go the pro-touring route, but you never actually say?

So, what are you going to do with the car? That will help us make suggests for you.

Joe, yes a pro -touring look is what I am after.

I am looking to change the look, up grade handling and braking.

I dont need a race car just want to make improvements that are justified for my application. A cool, fun ,family ride !!!

Do I really need $1200.00 A-arms?
Spartan has them for $350!!

Thanks
Kevin

In front, I would use the stock lowers with poly bushings and the pole-positions adjustable uppers with rubber bushings. For springs/shocks I would use the QA1 coil-overs. With a small-block I would not use any bigger than a 1 1/8" sway-bar in front.
