I took the washer pump off my 69 chevelle and I cleaned it up and put it back on , now my wipers do shut off and park but the washer pump keeps clanking as long as the wipers are on, the washer pump never stops
I just can't see why they don't shut off, there is a plastic piece on the back of the washer pump that is about a inch square with rounded conners that turns and makes the clanking noise and this part has a hole in it with a slot in the hole that I think the arm from the wiper motor goes in, I tryed lineing up the arm with the hole and not lineing up the arm with the hole before putting the washer pump back on and it doesn't make any difference, the solenoid does work
There is a part that rides on a cam that connects to the solenoid and I think that it was not staying on the cam and after I bent it to stay on the cam is when the wipers started to shut off and park, it does have the hidden wipers
It is a loud clanking noise not a clicking noise, when I turned the plastic square piece on the back of the pump is when I heard this loud noise for the first time
Would anybody know what is wrong here, any help is greatly appreciated
