I bought these springs today at a garage sale for the rear of my 72 ElCamino. They've got a two springs intertwined for each side- at first I thought they were just a front and rear coil, but the guy said that they're supposed to go in like that. He said they're designed for large loads.
Anyone heard of such a thing?

Can you post a picture? It sounds like a quick way to coil bind. Is it like a giant valvespring?

Yeah it does look like a valve spring. I'm at work right now, but I'll try to post a picture of it when I get home.

Not the best way to do it, but we used to do this trick 30 years ago to lift the rear up. Air bags or cargo coils are the better way to go. Also, for lift, try to get some springs out of the rear of an old full size like a Cadillac or a big Buick.

So is this an actual spring set up or is it just a front and a rear interwined?
Can I just use the what looks to be a rear coil by itself?
I don't want lift, I got the springs because I installed a 4" lift spring form JCW and threw away my sagging old springs. I hate the way it looks and plants, so I'd rather just go back to the stock springs with air shocks.
Thanks for the reply
