: Another Front Spring Question

I just finished reassembling the front suspenson on my 72 velle and took it for a short drive to the filling station ($2.42/gal, :( ). On the way to the station I went over some speed bumps and it sounded like the springs were rubbing on the frame. I installed Hotchkis front springs with Edelbrock shocks (also replace the steering linkage pieces).

So I was curious, anyone else notice that it seems their replacement front springs sounds like they contact (rub) the frame? Or did I forget (miss) installing something?

I am sure I got everything installed correctly, but maybe I missed something and I thought I would ask the experts smile.gif !

Thanks for any help.

sounds like the front springs aren't indexed properly. On the lower a-frames there is a notch that the end of the coil on the spring must sit against. This keeps the spring from trying to turn in the a frame pocket as the spring compresses and uncompresses.

Also make sure you have the spring seated in the upper pocket correctly. There is some metal in there the spring sits around. The spring should not touch the edge of the frame when it's seating properly.

Just wanted to say thanks to those who responded to my question. I take a look at it soon to verify everything is properly installed.
