I've installed new calipers and new Hawk HPS pads. Since this was a conversion to discs project, I never had old calipers or pads. Do these calipers require any shims or spring clips between the pads and the caliper like most? The Hawk pads have a shim already attached to the back of pads, but they are kind of hard to hold in place while installing the caliper on the rotor since there aren't any clips there to attach them to the caliper. Every other disc brake caliper I've worked with had some kind of clip.

If I do need clips/shims, is it possible to buy them separately at a regular auto parts store?

My '79 Eldorado discs in back came with loaded calipers and those didn't have any shims or clips either, I'm assuming this is normal. Again, the Hawk pads for those came with shims already attached to the back of the pads.

Poking around on-line I ran across some anti-rattle springs that might be appropriate, but having never seen them for these calipers, I've no idea if they belong or not.

Does anyone have an exploded view of the front disc brake caliper/rotor assembly they could scan and post? At this point I don't even know what the parts I may be missing even might look like. I'm pretty sure there are little clips that attach to the pad on the piston side of the caliper that hold that pad to the piston, but I'm not sure about other anti-rattle devices that may be used.

Rich that is how mine are on my 69 and I just used the anti rattle orange paste on them.
