Getting a rear gear change in my 12 bolt 8.875 (non positraction) car. Anyone know the amount of fluid I need, and if Royal Purple synthetic is ok ? If not, what ?
How best to break a rear gear in ?
Thanks.

Short trip, low speed, no more than 20 minutes. Allow to cool down thoroughly. Do this 3 times and you're good to go.

I prefer Mobile 1 Synthetic. If memory serves me correctly you'll need a little over 2 quarts. Randy has the break-in procedure down just fine.

Correct 2.25 Quarts. I just did mine and used Valvoline 80W-90. Lucas also makes a good product. I prefer to use conventional oil in the rear differentials, but the Mobil 1 Synthetic works great in the Muncie 4 Speeds.
