Hey guys, I have a 8.2 inch 10 bolt in my 70 El Camino with 2.56's. I just got a 3.08 ring and pinion for better off-the-line performance.

From what I've heard and understand, I need a new carrier and that the one I have now wont work.- right?

If it wont, I need a 3 series carrier for an 8.2 inch 10 bolt, what do you guys recommend for a couple hundred bucks that I could do?

The best thing to do, if you had the money, is to get a new Eaton Posi. That'll run you $445 plus shipping. I'm assuming that you have a standard differential right now that only spins one wheel. The cheapest thing to do would be to get a 3 series standard differential. But then you still only spin one wheel. You could add a Lock Right later, but that's around $300.

alright, thanks, also, what are your opinions on Auberns? (my spelling might be way off there)
I've heard good and bad about them.

I wouldn't put an Auburn in a golf cart, but that's just my opinion. I've had too many BAD experiences with them. They wear out quick, they can't be rebuilt and they fill the rear end with powdered metal as they wear.

ha ha k, point taken, thats what I've heard from some other guys as well. The occasional guy recommends them which is why I figured I'd ask here.
