The master cylinder on my 68 Malibu seems to be leaking pretty bad now and I'm wondering if I should just replace it and have everything checked while I'm at it or try to have someone at the dealership try to fix it. Its starting to effect how far down the pedal goes down on the brake now to. Up till maybe a month ago the pedal would stay up but now I have to pump it a few times to get some pressure before the cars stops really good. How much would a new cylinder and to get everything checked would it cost? I still have the old stype drum brakes on the car and they seem to still be in good shape. Thanks

Where is it leaking from? If it is from the cover the wire hold down may be stretched, just bend it back a little. I had this problem with a new master cylinder.
If there is any doubt replace it, better safe than sorry.

Thanks Fella's.....

I went ahead and replaced it.

Better to do that than take a chance of replacing the entire front end or worse yet someone else's rear end!!
