I have a 67 chevelle with 4 wheel drums, needless to say i want to upgrade.I'm going with front discs, 2nd hand A body.i've heard rumor of 11" rear drum swap with increased stopping power. Would the rear brakes off a 74 impala fit the bill.I'v seen 11" kits but Iam on a limited budget so junkyard parts are welcome.

Stay away from the Impalas! I picked up some 11" backing plates at the boneyard from an Impala and when I got home I found out that the Impalas have a different bolt pattern on the axle tubes so the backing plates would not fit on my Chevelle. I found some 11" plates off a 1977 El Camino and of course they worked. Look for wagons, El Caminos, and Monte Carlos. I took a tape measure to make sure I got the right ones.
Good luck!
