it is a wider bar then the chevelles so i welded tubes on the outside of the control arms.

Damn, That things huge! Are you sure you want to run that big of a sway bar in the rear?? What are you going to run up front?

Sure looks nice tho, nice job of making it fit!

BC, i ran some numbers and for my third seat big block wagon loaded down with all the power options and more the 1-3/8" bar is good. i am using 1-3/8" bar in the front also. if it was a car, no way, but this wagon warrents the larger bar.

Is that a stock sway bar or aftermarket? The reason I am interested is because I have a '83 Caprice that I am working on, and a 1 3/8" bar would be ideal. Believe it or not, the hot set up for a 91-96 Caprice(including the ImpalaSS's) is a 1 1/2"(!) rear bar, but I think that may be too much for my car, which is lighter. Is there any way that you could measure the bar from mount bolt to mount bolt, both side to side and front to rear? I'd sure appreciate any info. Thanks, Brian.

Thanks, Pete! I looked at your website-you've got some great cars!! I did some searching and it appears that the 73-77 bar will fit my car, so the measurements are not essential-but it would be nice to double check. Just don't go to too much trouble for this. One question though, do you have the info for buying the bar? I can't find anyone that has a 1 3/8" bar. Thanks again!

I figured if anybody could it'd be you! Really looks good, of course 'the proof of the puddin is in the eatin'. Have you driven it yet? I'd be interested in knowing how different it feels carving a few corners, especially while loaded.
Also, is my eyes, or does it cut down a little on your ground clearance?

i measured the sway bar. it is 42" center to center of the holes on the ends of the bar. then the second hole on each side is 5" away. this sway bar measures the same as '77-96 caprice 1" rear bars. so the bar i have might not be 73-77?
try Malibu Performance 818-222-6725 or, HO Racing 909-980-1451.

thanks gary, i have not tried it yet, i am still completeing the chassis. i dont think the ground clearence will be an issue.

Thanks Pete, that jibes with my measurements. I'll try those numbers. The only other thing I found was that Addco lists the same part number for a '70-77 Monte Carlo as for a '77-96 B. It's only a 1" bar tho.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help with this! Brian. graemlins/beers.gif
