Does 15k sound like the going rate for a 1971 Chevelle Malibu with 40k orig miles, 307/350, manual drum brakes, Air, aftermarket functional cowl hood, billit 17" wheels and ZR tires? The car is lazer straight and the paint and interior are almost perfect.

I've been out of the Chevelle world for awhile. I'm looking for a cruiser so a fat block isn't necessary. It might even be fun doing a brake upgrade. Give it to me straight.......thanks.

i bought my 71 about 3-4 yrs ago in a strong economy it was almost identicle but had plain steel wheels and flat standard hood, all original never rusted AZ. car with fresh dark green paint, mint interior 350/350 and i paid 4800.
I would say bench seat, not a desirable color (i myself dont care for the wheels),probably a column shift car, more like 6- 8000 or so ?? JMHO
heres what mine looked like when i got it (minus the wheels)

It looks like a nice car, but not for $16k. It "SHOULD" be listed for half of that amount.

is that just because of the options, or are the 71-72 less desireable?

Mostly the options, and unless the owner can point to impeccable condition or something else I don't think it's worth that money.

If the car was a documented survivor in great condition low miles, (which it is not) I could justify a ballpark asking price. However in lieu of the fact it is not a highly desirable color/interior/307/car, it would only be a 10k car in my book, and only if it was solid, straight, and had a nice previous paint job done on it. On a side note, the comparison car from Ebay, a few post above from Indiana,it may be worth 14k, but does not have 35k original miles on it.:noway:

yeah but i had to look at 50 piles of crap rusted bondoed up before i found it took about a year of lookin and listening to the there arent many left, wont find a nicer one for less bs spuing tards!!
i acctually found it on ebay at 5500 starting bid and no one bid cause it was green and had black steel wheels with no caps or rings, called the guy who was 4 hours north of me and went and looked at it and pulled 4800 cash out and he said take it!!
if it had been resale red with black stripes it would have had 50 bids on it!!
now it has a 383,350 with kit and 3000 stahl and a new 12 bolt with 3:73`s cowl hood
and will soon have buckets and a quarter stick in it when my foot heals!!!
the money i saved from buying a red or blue or black one i spent on everything else and know its all new and i installed it!!!
here it is now

i will have about 12-13g in it when i get seats in, also installed hotchkis boxed upper and lower rear arms.
my number one rule to buying old cars buy for the condition of the body not for what size motor or rear end etc... engines can be swapped easier than a rusted quarter!!!
