i cant figure out why some of my 70 chevelles have the extra little block in the rear brake line. i guess it is a pressure valve, but why do some have it and some dont. out of all my disc brake cars some do and some dont. if it is not needed, why have it? whats the piont or am i missing something. why and when was it used? or suposed to be used? does anyone know?

From what I've read, the block in the very rear was only used on 70's and its to keep pressure in the rear brake lines to overcome the springs in the drum brakes.

Good point, Pete.

All kidding aside, I'll research it with a possible expert source I have, and get back to you if find anything.

to be honest pete i think that they are a residual valve that is used for the disc brake cars. i do beleive that rich in new jersey figured out that there are actually two different valves that were manufactured. he was researching info on restoring his 70 drop top.

and i need one to make the brake system at least to appear stock ;)

I already bought an LS1 disc setup for the rear of mine and last night when I was removing the brakes from the frame I was wondering what the hell that thing was!!!!! I assumed it was a check valve of sorts. I'll be shipping it from Las Vegas if you're serious....just pay the shipping on it. Email me your address.

All the 70 disc brake cars I've seen have had the rear residual pressure valve. I wonder if some of the cars without it are former drum cars that have been converted. Many people don't know that valve even exists. Unfortunately that doesn't explain Anthony's non-disc car with one...

well my question is, if it works good with it and it works good with out it, what good is it doing?
