I was having a very difficult time getting my new dust caps on my new rotors today...VERY DIFFICULT. I didn't want to tear them up as it's for a frame-off. After scrounging around the garage for a while, I came up with a pretty simple solution.

I took a 1 1/2" pipe cap and a die grinder and ground some of the threads out of the inside until it sat down on the lip of the dust cap. Now you can wail on it with the BFH. Went right in!

I use an exhaust pipe adaptor/splice that you can buy at O'reilly auto parts for about $2. Just take the cap in with you, and find one that fits.

I usually use a big socket.

I use a punch on the edges

In a pinch, I've used a large crescent wrench opened up so the jaws sit flat on the dust cap lip and tapped it with a hammer
