on the front of my car (72 nova), those things that stick out of either side of the wheel cylinder are not even, one sticks straight out like it should, but the other is barely in, and is tilted towards the inside of the car. It is like this on both sides, surely its not supposed to be like this. When i spin the wheel and mash the brakes, it stops the wheel, but something just seems wrong.

Your shoes are probably not "seating" correctly and allowing the plunger to not seat all the way back in the wheel cylinder (the round thing at the top that the 2 plunger things go into ;) )

Very easy to do your first couple times. Grab the shoe & spring assembly, wiggle it and try and get them to smash together and seat so the plunger goes all the way in. The shoe can sometimes slip beyond the lip of the backer plate and make it appear to be in-line, but actually isn't.

Check all the slots and tabs and make sure they are seated correctly.

Post back - I'm sure it's just caught on the lip smile.gif
