: Did anyones car sit higher after suspension rebuild?

I've got a bit of a prob...
I did a frame off on my car and absolutley tore every suspension piece off and replaced it with something new. Also, I thought my frontend was sitting a little low:

so I decided to add 1" rubber spacers on top of the coils while I was putting everything back together. I made sure that all the suspension bits were loose and everything was under the cars weight before I tightened everything up. I added solid sub mounts, poly rubber, edelbrock shocks, and a bigger sway bar, but SAME springs and I'm pretty sure they are seated properly.

Well now the front end sits at least level with the back, if not higher?!?! I thought it was because I didn't have my hood or doors on, but there's simply no give in the suspension. The camber (correct term?) of the wheels kinda look like this:

\---/

and the lower a-arms aren't in the "flat" position they should be, they're pointed in a downwards direction.
Any ideas?

I'd start by loosening up all the suspension bolts (not the sub bolts) and bouncing the front end a few times, see if it will even let you compress it down.

Do keep in mind (and I forget the proportions) that 1" at the spring is equivalent to like 1.8" or something at the wheel since the spring is acting on the lever formed by the lower a-arm. 1" may be too much of a spacer and may be the problem.

You'd be surprised how much the hood, doors and fenders weigh. Don't get too worked up until you have the whole car together and see where things sit. With just the front clip off my car was sitting on the top bump stop. Adding the sheetmetal got it down to where it belongs.

Hmm...interesting, I did not know that. The last thing I want to do is yake the coils out again. What a nasty job. But if it's giving me almost 2 inches of height that jyst might be the prob.

Is there someone who would know the exact proportions of what a 1" spacer would add?

When I rebuilt my front end I also did a disc conversion and 2" drop spindles. With the 2" drop it still sat at the same height as before because the suspension was so tired. Whata difference though, even at the same ride height all of my scraping header problems went away because everything was tight, and I now have shocks that work as they're supposed to. Best of luck, and before rushing into it, maybee wait to hang the doors, and let it settle a bit.

Best of luck,
