: Lower Control arm Bushings

Hi Everyone,
I just had a quick question to rule something out. I am restoring my front end and have the upper and lower control arms removed. I noticed on each lower control arm, a small bead weld on 1 out of 2 of the bushings on both lower control arms. Was this something the factory may have done or was it from a previous "chucklehead" owner. I need to replace the bushings, but feel I may just end up replacing both lower control arms. Ok, maybe that wasn't a quick question... Thanks guys

Dennis;

The factory did this. Both my 70 SS' (Built In Van Nuys) have it too. I tack welded all the lower bushings on the one car that I'm rebuilding right now.

Thank you guys so much for the input. The welds looked really aged like the rest of the control arms... I had spoken with someone that said if they were welded, some previous owner "hacker" had done it because they fit too loosely and that I should replace both lower control arms. With what you guys told me, I will just remove the old and tack weld the new ones in. I am undecided on what to do with the upper ball joints. I have new ones that came with a package deal, but the old ones look perfect and the new ones would be bolted in which would raise eye brows of judges. What are you guys doing in this respect? Thanks again!
