Hey group i am trying to track down a pair of twr front srpings #6041. the car 67 lemans, big block chevy with aluminum heads and a/c. I cant seem to find them...any ideas? perfect circle spring would also work #277-1163. they both are 500 lb. spring +or- with .720 wire. i have 2" drop spindles so i have to go with a stock hieght spring. any suggestions would help. also i am trying not to spend 150.00 or so plus shipping from detroit eaton spring if i have other options. thanks tommy

That spring is listed in my 1996 Moog catalog for the rear of a 60 Impala. I'm not sure if the number is still good but you might try finding it through that application. It is the stiffest spring listed with a design that looks like it might fit the front of a 64-67 A body.
I put this chart together showing all the part #'s I could find with a similar design using data from my catalog.
The 6081 looks like it might work fairly well also.

I got that number from your spring chart. i did a search and found the chart. you listed a #6041 as a 501# srping. here is directly from your chart.
6041 part number
3.672 inner diamater
Tang/Tang style spring
.720 wire size
11.500 load height
2806 load
501 load rate
17.092 free height
i want roughly a 600 + pound srping. i will end up cutting prolly a loop off to get the desired height.
Have i mis read your chart or are we on different pages(me mainly) thanks for the great chart. i guess i might give moog a call. thanks tommy

When I made the chart I didn't look at which cars the numbers fit because I wanted to explore all possible options, only at the way the ends were cut along with the I.D. and length. When I checked the application tables I found the 6041 (and the # 661) spring to be listed as a rear spring for a 60 Impala. I don't know for sure if it will work on our cars but judging by all the relevant data supplied in the Moog catalog it might. The catalog is from 1996 so even though the numbers were listed in it I'm not sure if they are still on the books.
FWIW - 5244 is listed as the stock spring for all 67 SS396 Chevelles, AC HD or not.
