What is the advandage of front coil over shocks? Can they be used as replacements for standard shocks? My car sits just the way I want it to, but when I got my project, it had a pair of coil overs in the trunk. Should I use them, or just get some normal shocks?

ctrain... I don't the know the physics behind coilovers but I run them in my '72 and they've been in there almost 10 years. I like them.

I would guess they would ride stiffer/have less travel than regular shocks becuase of the coil spring, but I'm no expert.

You could always try them, and if you don't like them, swith back to the others or try something different. Sorry I don't have much more insight.

Thanks Justin, I appreciate your response. I think i will do just that. Try them and see how they feel.

Check out the newest issue of Hot Rod. Marlan Davis does an excellent job of putting the advantages of coilovers into laymens terms.

"Adjustability" in both ride and ride height. Read every article you can and talk to the companies who build them, then ask "Specific" questions on this site.

Hope this helps.
