My 68SS began life with a 325-horse engine, a floor-shifted heavy duty 3-speed Saginaw, power steering, and a bench seat. I bought the car minus the engine and trans, and have since installed a numbers correct, ED coded 396 that was originally installed in an Atlanta-built Chevelle 3 weeks after my car came off the line, and a 1968 dated M20. For the purpose of this topic, lets say my non-numbers matching car at this point is worth X dollars.
Here's my question...
How much added value does the car have with the following options (added my me)?
1—Power disk brakes, front only, from a 72 GMC Sprint;
2—Factory tinted Soft-Ray glass, all eight pieces;
3—Full factory instrumentation, tach, oil, temp, fuel, and clock;
4—Factory bucket seats
5—Factory console
6—Courtesy lighting, under hood, trunk, ash tray, and under dash;

Again, I'm only looking for estimates on the added value of the options. Or, how much more would someone pay for this car with the 6 options listed versus the same car without the options.

Thanks for your opinions...
Patrick

All the items you listed will add value to the car but not as muct as it will cost to add the options.

With exception of the 4 speed, I don't think the options add a lot of dollar value. But I think they make the car more attractive than a car without those options. So if i guy is looking at 2 cars similar in quality, etc. he will most likely pick the one with more options.

Stuff added by you really does not add much since it not original to car.
1—Power disk brakes, front only, from a 72 GMC Sprint;
Nothing, not even close to original or good aftermarket
2—Factory tinted Soft-Ray glass, all eight pieces;
$100 which is a guess, nice to have but not necessary
3—Full factory instrumentation, tach, oil, temp, fuel, and clock;
Big bucks, no aftermarket, goes for greater than $500 on Ebay
4—Factory bucket
$200 is in half decent shape, just a guess
5—Factory console
$100 since can aftermarket it for $400
6—Courtesy lighting, under hood, trunk, ash tray, and under dash;
Nothing, very easy to aftermartket

1- For originality sake, 68 discs are not the same, (4 piston vs. single) the proportioning valve is unique to 68-69, so as an original car, this may take from the value.
2-Nothing.
3-This will add value to the car, 'cause everyone loves gauges. $500?
4,5-I think a bucket/console car will command more interest, therefore more value, but you will not get it put in for less than $1000. And $1000 is the max extra you may get..
6-Nothing, some of these are more of an annoyance than desirable.

I guess a great counter question might be : How much do you expect to get out of your car right now without those options?
