: Newbie front suspension question

I looked through the archives, but really couldn't see anything relating to this.
Please pardon me if this has been discussed before.

I just bought a 67 chevelle. Original engine was a 327, current engine is a 454. I think it still has the SB front springs in it. Upper and lower ball joints are new.
A friend noticed that when I turn the wheels, with the steering wheel, that they really lean in at the top. Is this normal?
Also noticed that when I'm backing up in a turn, after rolling a few feet, it feels like the brakes are on. If I reduce the amount of turn, it will roll back easier again. I get the impression that the front wheels are trying to turn in two different circles, fighting each other.
Going down the road, everything seems fine, and steers well.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

sounds like your tires might be rubbing the frame. if you like the road hight, it really doesnt matter what springs are in there. you could put taller springs in, or different offset wheels, or skinnier tires.

That's a thought. I didn't hear any rubbing, but at such a slow speed, I probably wouldn't.
I'll check it tonight.

Is the tires leaning in at the top, when turned normal for this car?

Sounds like a "lift kit" to allow more suspension travel might have been installed at some time. Check between the upper A arm & spindle to see if there is a spacer (about 1-1/2" to 2" thk). Although they were called "lift kits" they did not lift the car. They just allow more lift/suspension travel. Tried them years ago---screwed the suspension geometry up so bad I pulled them.
