When I bought my car in 1980, one of the previous owners (believed Charles Manson was the original owner http://www.chevelles.com/forum/tongue.gif )Had installed a steel plate, about 5 inches round in diameter. It has about 3-4 graduated, rings (kinda like winny the poo's honey pot, butsmaller)with a hole.It had the springs bolted to the 12 bolt's spring perch pad with some grade 5 bolts and washers. It fits perfectly inside the coils inner end and mates to the rearend pad. Is this some factory option or ?? Is it not suggested to lock down the coil like that to the rear end ? Thanks for any input-Shawn

these sounds like what we used to do to the rear springs when we used to race stock cars.
