I was looking through napa online and cross referencing moog p/n to napa part numbers. They come back with two products. One is Master Ride and the other is Napa Brand. Which are the moog brand products? The Master ride brand was the cheaper of the two. Thanks - John

Having seen cross sectional cuts of both Napa and Moog balljoints, I'm inclined to believe the Napa's are actually better quality. More bearing contact area, bonded (rather than slip over) dust boots, beefier housings, etc.

Not saying the Moogs are bad (I used them in my car) but if I had seen the NAPA stuff when I did my suspension I would have used theirs. All the NAPA chassis stuff I've seen is made in the USA as well.

I stopped by Napa yesterday and I saw the cross section views of Moog vs Napa brand when I was at the counter. I was impressed by the Napa ones.

But they did not have any in stock, so I went with Moog instead. I may take the Moog back and order the Napa brand instead. Thanks.

I worked as a district manager for NAPA for a few years. NAPA doesn't actually have a "brand". What NAPA does is go out and re-box name brand parts with their name. For example NAPA shocks and struts are Monroe they are just re-boxed as NAPA, batteries are Exide just remarked as NAPA, exhaust is Walker just remarked as NAPA, I could go on but you get the point. When NAPA has 2 different types of parts, the difference is normally not in the parts but most times it is just a different warranty. It has been a few years for me so I don't remember everything but the bottom line is that NAPA has a top of the line brand that will have a warranty that should cover parts and labor and then basically the same brand products with a one year no labor warranty. Ask your NAPA counter person about the warranty on these parts. NAPA brand should still be Moog it is just the difference between a quality part with a better warranty and a value part for a guy that might be fixing a car and then selling it. Get back to me with what he tells you and I'll let you know if he's full of it. When I was a district mgr, I got my cousin a job as a store mgr in one of the 5 stores I managed and he still works there. I can always check with him to see about current warranties.

Last time I talked to Napa about ball joints for my truck I was told that their Napa brand were Moog repackaged in Napa boxes. Thats what the man said anyway.
