Hi all , i hope i am in the right area here, went over a huge speed bump on saturday, front of the chevelle came down with some bang, anyway the long and short of it was it somehow loosened the two bolts on my upper a arm where the shims go for camber castor. may have lost a shim or two , car is pulling to the left. had this job done before but i dont think the mechanic tightened them up to any torque. can anybody tell me the right settings for camber, castor , toe in toe out, it is a 72 chevelle. there aint too many mechanics familiar with this job over here in ireland, so any help would be much appriciated. many thanks.

These are the factory alignment specs for a 71 Chevelle.
-1° ± 1/2° Caster
+3/4° ± 1/2° Camber
1/8" to 1/4" Toe In
A little more modern spec would be...
+1/2° Camber
1/8" - 1/16" Toe In
Caster would be as far forward (positive) as your adjustment will allow. I don't recall offhand what the torque spec is for the cross shaft to frame nuts but it's probably 75-85 ft lbs.

Also, no more than 1/2° variation from side to side.

How about I send Dana over to do that alignment Liam? ;)
You'll probably have another potato famine...he works for french fries. :D
Good luck with the repair and tell that guy to tighten down those bolts. You shouldn't be losing shims. :(

From a lot of the posts here on Chevelles.com, it seems that the stock alignment specs don't work very well for modern tires and apps. I just had my Chevelle realigned to the following specs and it drives much, much better.
Caster: +2.5 driver, +2.75 passenger
Camber: -0.25 both sides.
Toe: 1/16 in on each side for total of 1/8.
The more caster the better, although stock arms will only accommodate up to about 2 1/2 to 3 degrees positive.
Hope this helps.
