So in converting from front drum to front disk, I find that the line to the rear brakes terminates at the base of the firewall. The car didn't have the brakes hooked up when we got it, so I'm not sure how that line made it all the way to the dist block or the M/C.

Now, with a prop valve under the M/C, is it possible to extend the hard line up to that point or is a whole new line required? THe line looks to be in good shape, so I hate to replace it, but I've not seen a line extension with a female at one end and a male at the other.
(...man that sounds bad! )

Anyway, is it safe to add joints or should we just bite the bullet and put in a whole new hard line for $75 or so...?

Just buy the appropriate union and short piece of steel line. Some parts stores have a pretty good selection on lines with the flares and fittings in place if you do not want to make your own.

Yep, as long as you make your union as clean and tight as a regular fitting I think you shoud be fine.

I may have to do some of this myself with my front and rear disc conversion. Uh...I really can't wait for that! Oh the excitement.
