I was doing the installation of my rear hard lines and hoses on the 12-bolt yesterday. I have installed the '87 Camaro rear discs on it.
I noticed that the flares and fittings for the Camaro hard lines are not the same as the standard double flare that is already on the Chevelle.
What's the deal with this setup, and how can I correct for it? I do have the flare fittings from the original Camaro hard lines. How do I properly flare my new hard line for this fitting? Or, is there an adapter that will allow me to go from the standard old flare to the newer Camaro flare setup on the hose?
Thanks!

It is probably the infamous "bubble flare". GM uses this a lot.
your best bet is to get a piece of bubble flare brake line from the parts store and cut one end off. You will want to cut it to the correct length anyways so now all you have to do is add the standard fitting then add a double flare to ONE side and you will have a brake line with both of the proper flares to reinstall.
The bubble flare has metric threads so you will have to add a standard fitting according to the size of the line. Make sure you put it on before you flare the line.

There are standard flare to bubble flare brake lines available at the parts stores. They may be listed as repair or adapter lines.

This might not be the one you need but the counter guy should be able to help you out. Also, the adapter brake lines that I've used are black in color.
Thanks guys. Before I was able to check the replies I ordered a '78 Camaro front hose to see if that will take care of my problem.
I already have the lines bent, so I was hoping to NOT have to make a new one. I may end up going that route anyway. I would be oh-so-thrilled to be able to bend more lines!
That adapter line looks like it would work, but I'm really trying to stay with factory parts that are easy to pull off the shelf. At least I know I have that option also.
Eh...the stupid caliper bolt is smaller than it needs to be to fit the '78 Camaro hose correctly. I think there's too much slop.
71350ss,
Now that I look at your link a second time I see that it is probably the exact brass fitting adapter I was looking for and not a piece of tubing or hose at all. Guess it just didn't register the first time I looked at it. Will try again with NAPA tomorrow and see if they can help me figure it out.
Thanks much for the help.

http://www.napaonline.com Thanks for the link. I went back to NAPA today and after we screwed around with them for a while the counter guy was able to find the right brass adapter fitting for me. I'm finally set on the rear brakes! All it will take now is shortening the original lines and that part will be done.
...then I get to d*** with the new prop valve and the hard lines  .
