I'm new to 4 speeds, but I've got one of the shift shaft o-rings seeping oil and needs to be replaced. I assume the side cover must come of to accomplish this? Is there anything I need to know about taking the side cover off, or is it straightforward?

Many thanks!

Andre,
You are definitely going to need to pull the side cover.
Once it's off, you'll need to pull out the shifter shafts so that you can pry out the old seals.
Next, THOROUGHLY clean and dry the pockets where the seals seat.
I like to use a socket that just BARELY fits into the pocket to GENTLY tap in the new seals.
WARNING: I'd advise you to buy 1-2 extra seals because if you've never replaced them before, there is a chance that you may bugger one up getting it in place. Drive the seals in until they are fully seated in the pocket (this is a "feel" thing).

It is also highly probable that you will also need a new gasket.
