I am helping a friend remove a virus. I have run ccleaner, spybot, and avast. I tried them in "safe mode" and during regular boot up.
Spybot and Avast cant remove "Win32.delf.rtk"
I am assuming since it is in the rootkit, it is running as soon as the computer boots up.
I did remove the other 400+viruses, but this one is stubborn.:D

I've been A+ certified since 1999.
I don't even bother anymore, I just reformat, and reload my full blown OS Image with all preloaded software.
Chasing virus's is Best Buy Geek Squads job, it's faster for me to whack and reload.
Sure...you MIGHT get it all, but really you just don't know.
You always keep your hard drive (HDD) partitioned for the purposes of storing
data on a separate partition
then the Operating System (OS) in case things like this happen.....which they do quite often to people who DL often,
or don't have proper firewalls, and virus updates.

That's a good option to try if you don't want to whack your system.

It is not my computer, so I could not just reformat. I also asked if I could use reformat if I could not fix the problem. The boot disk is long gone.
I did fix it. I went to majorgeeks.com and used their instructions to fix it.
I did get a free one-on-one with Thomas Denny, so fixing it was worth my time.:hurray:

Acronis True image.
IIRC - they give away a free copy of their OLD software once the NEW
versions come out. I think TrueImage version 9 is free.
