I am thinking about doing a rear disc conversion on my 71 chevelle. The car has power brakes. Will I be able to use the existing power brake M/C or will I have to switch to a 4 wheel disc M/C?

You really should switch to a 4 wheel disk MC and a 4 wheel disk proportioning valve. That way, every thing works as planned...

Although my first question would be Why do you want rear disks? They are a pretty big PITA!

I just think they would look pretty cool on the car. Why do you say they are a PITA? I was reading somewhere that you have to set the parking brake everytime that you park to make sure the discs adjust properly. Is this true?

Dude i make a disc parking brake that allows you to use rotors that dont have that problem. check it out on my site.

you won't have to hit the park brake every time you park. with the gm seville calipers you will need to do it but only occasionally to keep the pads adjusted to the rotors. it's really not a big deal. tom

Well, when I did mine, it was a pretty big PITA, but I do agree that now it would be much easier. My biggest problems were getting the rear calipers adjusted properly and getting the E-brake to work good. If you go with Pete's pinion-mounted ebrake systems and just use regular front calipers on the rear, life will be so much better! Then you just need the correct 4-wheel disk MC and prop valve, and to router an ebrake cable to the new ebrake and you should be all set.

Good luck,
