In my opinion, the newer wheels don't look right on older cars. Muscle car wheels need a "lip" to look right, and newer 'vette wheels are backspaced or offset so that the center piece of the wheel is flush with the outside of the rim.
My suggestion is for a set of these if you like big wheels (these are 18s):

Wheels are a personal preferance. Its like women shopping for shoes. They all like alot of shoes but everyone has there favorite. I would suggest looking at as many wheels pictures and cars at shows as you can and get what ever catches your eye. Now if cost is an issue that really narrows down your choices. How much did you want to spend and if you were looking at corvette wheels I assume you want 17"+ sizes.

I think the billit rally wheels in 17's would look killer.

I'm on the same mission with my 71 chevelle. and like 69496 said it is about personal preference. I've spent hours on google looking for wheels that appeal to me and now i'm narrowing down my search and trying to find good deals. Personally though i love the five spoke look with the deep dish in the rear and shallow dish upfront, and slamming the biggest tire in the rear that you can fit. Also with the black stripes and other black accents i like the look of the darker wheel with the machined lip imo. Cragar, American racing, weld, coys, and rocket are my favorite brands.... Good luck
